TEDxSnoIsleLibraries makes the best ideas visible to our communities.
– Paul Pitkin
Since 2015, the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation has been a founding partner of the TEDxSnoIsleLibraries events.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
TEDxSnoIsleLibraries started in 2015 with 'Creating New Futures'. Twenty-three speakers, including engineers, a filmmaker and even an astronaut spoke on a variety of topics, such as 'Setting technology limits', 'Good boundaries free you' and 'The Mars Generation'.
In 2016, TEDxSnoIsleLibraries returned with 'Transformations'. Movement and change. Conversion and shift. The goal: infuse audiences with the wonders of metamorphosis. Seventeen speakers presented topics like: 'Beauty is an Inside Job', 'The Power of Music to Heal, Transform and Inspire' and 'Channeling Your Inner Renaissance'.
'Sharing Our Future' was the selected theme for 2017. Speakers and performers explored the promise, risks, expectations and potential meaning of a future. Topics covered by the eleven speakers included: 'How to connect with depressed friends', 'Be a voice, not an echo' and 'Boundless wonder / How kites let us soar'.
